Ok FastCAT versus CAT for those looking for more info…
- FastCAT: timed 100 yd dash on the straight
Your dog’s time to complete this is converted to MPH. Dogs earn points depending on their handicap speed (handicap applied is based on height of the dog). Titles are given for accumulation of points.
- CAT: 300 or 600 yd course with turns not tighter than 90 degrees (distance run depends on height of the dog, 12” or less = 300 yds)
For CAT your dog needs to complete the course in 1.5 mins or 2 mins respectively. To pass the dogs needs to complete the course with enthusiasm and without interruption within that time. Titles are based on the number of passes achieved
Here’s a short clip of both from the weekend. Looking forward to the photos being released!
Another fantastic long weekend - this time we were in Perry, GA.
Sovereign had 4 days of conformation, fastcat fun runs and got to run CAT (coursing ability test) for the first time - still another 5 months to go before she can compete in those.
We had the best time - took part in ugly Christmas jumper day - met up with a bunch of friends we’ve met at previous shows - met up with people we have been wanting to meet for many years now!
Sovereign had a busy week this week! She’s now 6 months old for those wondering.
We had some more show practice last weekend, with 3x class 1 and reserve winners bitch one of the days at Ocala. More importantly we met some wonderful people at the show, both within the breed and outside - and I couldn’t be more grateful for how friendly and accepting everyone is of us both. Thank you!
Midweek she graduated from the Canine Good Citizens program and also got her AKC Novice Trick Dog title (rosette to follow).
Her giraffe neck photo is her classic neighbourhood watch pose! She is sooo nosey 🦒
